Reviews are the cheapest conversion lift a Shopify store can buy. PowerReviews, analyzing 4.5 billion visits across 1.5 million product pages in 2020 and 2021, found conversion lifts 52.2 percent once a product page has one or more reviews.
Northwestern's Spiegel Research Center, in a 2017 study run with PowerReviews, found a product with five reviews is 270 percent more likely to be purchased than one with none.
So every Shopify store needs reviews on its product pages. That part is settled.
Two things have changed since most comparison articles were written. Shopify shut down its own free Product Reviews app in May 2024, and merchants who did not export in time lost their review history permanently. And in October 2024 an FTC rule took effect that made a feature several of these apps still advertise legally risky.
So which product review app should you install, and which features should you leave switched off?
This list covers 15 apps live on the Shopify App Store today. Every rating, tier and price was read from the live listing in August 2026, and each entry names the specific complaint merchants leave in its one-star reviews.
Why Shopify Stores Need a Dedicated Review App
Shopify used to give you one. It does not any more.
The native Product Reviews app was delisted in September 2023 and sunset in May 2024, with export instructions going out in between. Plenty missed it. One merchant wrote that Shopify "surely did not warn that every review collected over the years would vanish completely without a way to migrate them." Staff confirmed in the same thread that those reviews were "not accessible, or exportable, since the sunsetting of the app."
Today Shopify collects first-party reviews only inside the Shop app, where they display on the Shop product page rather than on your storefront. For your own product pages, you need a third-party app.
You are buying four things: a way to ask customers for reviews, a widget that displays them, structured data so stars can appear in Google results, and a place to store the reviews you own.
That last one matters more than merchants expect. Reviews are an asset you build for years, and the app holding them holds something you cannot easily rebuild.
Top 15 Best Product Review Apps for Shopify
1. Judge.me Product Reviews App

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- The best free plan in the category. Unlimited reviews and unlimited photo and video UGC at zero cost, which no other app here matches.
- The strongest social proof on the App Store, at 5.0 stars across more than 44,000 reviews.
- Syndication to Google, Meta and the Shop app included, plus import from Yotpo, Loox and Etsy.
- Worth knowing: import is the recurring complaint. Merchants report reviews losing verified status after migrating in, imports failing unless saved every 50 rows, and one review-request email going to 3,620 customers without approval.
Pricing: Forever Free. Awesome $15/month with a 15-day trial.
Best for: Almost every Shopify store, and the default answer unless you need something specific.
Rating: 5.0 stars, 44,170 reviews
2. Loox ‑ Product Reviews App

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- The best visual review experience, built around photos and video rather than text with images attached.
- Loox Studio turns reviews into social posts and stories, which no other review app here does.
- AI Smart Sorting, Review Highlights and translations on paid plans.
- Worth knowing: usage billing dominates the one-star reviews and it is severe. One merchant was "charged $399.99 on a $49.99 plan" and says support could not explain why. Another reports nearly $1,000 in usage fees in a single month.
Pricing: Beginner free up to 500 orders. Convert $49.99/month including 300 orders, then $50 per additional 300. Unlimited $299.99/month. 14-day trial.
Best for: Visual-first brands in beauty, fashion and home, with someone watching the invoice.
Rating: 4.9 stars, 9,113 reviews
3. Yotpo: Product Reviews App

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Reviews connected to a loyalty program, which is where Yotpo now concentrates after exiting email and SMS in December 2025.
- Google Seller Ratings and Google Shoppable Ads supported directly.
- Two-way review sync with TikTok and Walmart.
- Worth knowing: support is the complaint. Merchants describe an AI chatbot issuing case numbers no human follows up on. One reports being billed $119 for two months on a $15 plan. Another received an empty export CSV five times.
Pricing: Free up to 50 monthly orders. Starter $15/month. Pro $119/month. Both scale with order volume.
Best for: Brands already running Yotpo Loyalty who want reviews in the same stack.
Rating: 4.8 stars, 4,393 reviews
4. Okendo: Reviews & Loyalty

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Five connected apps on one platform: reviews, loyalty, surveys, quizzes and referrals.
- Product recommendation quizzes and dynamic surveys running alongside reviews, which no other app here bundles.
- AI review summaries and keywords on Growth and above, plus 50+ integrations including Klaviyo.
- Worth knowing: support is documentation-first. One merchant describes it as "here are the docs, good luck." Another reports an acknowledged bug unfixed three months later. Uninstalling leaves metafields that block Shopify's duplicate product feature.
Pricing: Free up to 50 orders/month. Essential $19/month. Growth $119/month. Power $299/month. 14-day trial.
Best for: Premium DTC brands who want reviews and retention tooling from one vendor.
Rating: 4.9 stars, 1,330 reviews
5. Stamped Reviews & Loyalty

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Reviews, ratings, photos, video and Q&A in one module, with loyalty alongside.
- Google Shopping and rich snippet support built in.
- Email and SMS review request automation included rather than sold separately.
- Worth knowing: two serious issues. Widgets load slowly enough that one merchant blames "a significant drop in our store's conversion rate." And in late 2025 Stamped changed its free plan, which merchants say hid reviews they had already collected. One wrote that four years of reviews "were instantly removed from our website."
Pricing: From $23/month for 200 orders, rising to $99 at 1,000 orders and $199 at 5,000. Loyalty from $299/month. No free plan and no free trial.
Best for: Established stores that want reviews and loyalty together and will pay from day one.
Rating: 4.7 stars, 3,398 reviews
6. AG Product Reviews App & UGC

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Genuinely free with no paid tier at all, rare at this quality level.
- Carries the Built for Shopify badge, meaning it meets Shopify's performance standards.
- Flexible widgets including star ratings, carousels and testimonial blocks, with automated review requests.
- Worth knowing: the free product has real gaps. One merchant reports the multilingual claim does not hold up, because manually translated reviews and per-market interfaces are not supported.
Pricing: Free. The listing shows no paid plans.
Best for: New stores that need a competent review widget and have no budget.
Rating: 5.0 stars, 3,043 reviews
7. Fera Product Reviews App

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- A 60-day free trial, the longest in this category by a wide margin.
- Rewards for reviews using discounts, points or cashback.
- Google Search and Shopping rich snippet support, plus sync of verified reviews from Etsy and Google.
- Worth knowing: Fera removed its free plan and long-time merchants are unhappy. One writes that it keeps "increasing pricing +100% and you will regret once you have populated your data with them."
Pricing: No free plan. Startup $9/month. Small $29/month. Medium $99/month. Semi-Large $199/month. 60-day trial.
Best for: Stores that want to test thoroughly before committing.
Rating: 4.8 stars, 1,978 reviews
8. Junip Product Reviews App & AI

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Unlimited review requests on the free plan, with rich snippets at zero cost.
- Official syndication partnerships with Google Shopping, the Shop app, Meta Shops and TikTok Shop.
- Simple setup and migration from Yotpo, Judge.me and Okendo, which matters given how badly migration goes elsewhere.
- Worth knowing: the negative sample is thin at seven combined one and two-star reviews. One merchant reports over 50 review requests with almost no response.
Pricing: Free plan. Core $29/month. Growth $79/month. Premium $299/month. 7-day trial.
Best for: Brands that care about getting reviews into Google and TikTok Shop properly.
Rating: 4.8 stars, 1,099 reviews
9. CWILL (Trustoo) Product Reviews

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Automatic review translation, one language on Starter and multi-language on Growth.
- Ten or more widgets on the free plan, though only six reviews display per product until you upgrade.
- Review collection by QR code and WhatsApp alongside email requests.
- Worth knowing: review-request email delivery is the complaint. One merchant doing 10,000 orders a month reports zero reviews after upgrading, saying the emails worked on the free plan and stopped on the paid one. A recent review flags storefront slowdown. Note also that the marketing copy says "unlimited translation" while the plan cards limit Starter to one language.
Pricing: Free plan. Starter $11.99/month. Growth $29.99/month. 7-day trial.
Best for: Stores selling into multiple languages on a small budget.
Rating: 4.9 stars, 1,502 reviews
10. Vitals: Reviews, Bundles & 40+

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Reviews plus more than 40 other conversion tools in one subscription, including bundles, upsells and session recordings.
- One flat tier, so there is no plan ladder to climb.
- AI page builder and ad creative tools bundled in.
- Worth knowing: the flat fee is no longer flat. One merchant reports the price quietly becoming "$29.99/month + usage" with no notice, then a $155.99 invoice. Several report charges after uninstall.
Pricing: All-in-One $29.99/month. Usage fees start from $10/month above roughly $1,000 in Vitals-attributed sales, and separately for Visitor Recordings volume. No free plan. 7-day trial.
Best for: Stores that would otherwise install eight separate conversion apps.
Rating: 4.9 stars, 2,813 reviews
11. Growave: Loyalty & Wishlist

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Reviews bundled with loyalty, wishlist, referrals and VIP tiers, so one app covers most of retention.
- A free forever plan covering 200 orders a month.
- Shopify Plus checkout extensions and a headless API on the $499 Plus tier only.
- Worth knowing: price increases dominate the complaints. One merchant writes that Growave forces you "to pay $200 a month what used to cost $49." Another reports 20 to 30 scripts left behind after uninstall.
Pricing: Free forever up to 200 orders. Entry $15/month. Growth $199/month. Plus $499/month, each with per-order overage above the cap. 14-day trial.
Best for: Stores wanting reviews as part of a retention stack rather than on their own.
Rating: 4.8 stars, 1,171 reviews
12. Rivyo ‑ Product Reviews App

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- The cheapest paid tier here at $9 a month, with unlimited product reviews on the free plan.
- Import from Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox and Okendo, which makes it a cheap landing spot when migrating.
- Loyalty and referral programs as $9 add-ons rather than a forced bundle.
- Worth knowing: reliability is the complaint. One merchant reports being unable to open the app for months with no support response.
Pricing: Free to install. Starter $9/month. Business $14/month. Enterprise $19/month. 7-day trial.
Best for: Budget-conscious stores that still want photo and video reviews.
Rating: 4.9 stars, 887 reviews
13. Ali Reviews: AI Product Review

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- The most widely used review importer on the App Store, carrying the Built for Shopify badge.
- AI translation using Gemini turning reviews into your buyers' languages.
- Automated collection flows offering discounts for photo and video reviews.
- Worth knowing: two things. Merchants report widgets and reviews breaking after app updates, with one writing that reviews came back "wrong" and sometimes translated into English unprompted. More importantly, its headline feature is bulk import from AliExpress, Amazon, Temu, Etsy and eBay. Read the compliance section below before you use it.
Pricing: Free plan. Basic $14.95/month. Growth $24.95/month. Advanced $49.95/month. 14-day trial.
Best for: Stores that want its collection and display tools, with the import feature left switched off.
Rating: 4.8 stars, 1,383 reviews
14. REVIEWS.io Product Reviews App

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- Product reviews and company reviews in one platform, which most apps here do not separate.
- Google Seller Ratings plus rich snippets, with syndication to TikTok Shop and the Shop app.
- Surveys including post-purchase and NPS.
- Worth knowing: pricing transparency is the complaint. One merchant reports a rise from 99 to 150 euros a month without notice, and states that the rates shown on the Shopify listing "are NOT the current prices anymore."
Pricing: Free with 25 monthly review invites. Launch $19/month. Launch Plus $45/month. 14-day trial. Billed by REVIEWS.io separately from Shopify.
Best for: Brands that need company-level reviews and Google Seller Ratings, not just product stars.
Rating: 4.7 stars, 701 reviews
15. Opinew Product Reviews App UGC

Why choose this Shopify product review app?
- The most advanced review automation here, including email, QR code and, on Growth and above, SMS requests with coupons.
- Eight customizable widgets plus Q&A.
- Smart Reviews surfacing your strongest reviews first, on Growth and above.
- Worth knowing: imports and sync break, and merchants report being billed through it. One waited over four months with the collection feature broken. Also read the compliance section below before using its bulk import from supplier listings.
Pricing: Free plan. Starter $19/month. Growth $89/month. Advanced $199/month. 14-day trial.
Best for: Stores that need serious review request automation across channels.
Rating: 4.7 stars, 599 reviews
Also worth knowing
Three apps narrowly missed this list and are worth a look. Doran Product Reviews App & QA is entirely free, carries the Built for Shopify badge and holds 4.9 stars across 695 reviews. AfterShip Product Reviews sits at 4.9 stars across 747 reviews with a free plan and an $11 entry tier. Reputon runs two highly rated apps that import and display Google reviews rather than collecting your own, which is a different job from everything above.

The Compliance Trap: Imported Reviews Can Cost You
This is the section every ranking article on this topic leaves out, and it carries real financial risk.
Several apps here advertise bulk import of reviews from AliExpress, Amazon, eBay or Etsy. Two separate authorities make that a bad idea.
- The FTC rule: The Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials, 16 CFR Part 465, took effect on October 21, 2024. It bans reviews that misrepresent whether the reviewer actually used the product. Civil penalties currently run up to $53,088 per violation, a figure the FTC adjusts annually, and enforcement is live. In December 2025 the FTC sent warning letters to ten companies about possible violations.
Be precise about what the rule says. The FTC proposed a section covering the reuse of a review written for one product so that it appears written for another, then decided not to adopt it. So importing is not banned by name.
The main prohibition still applies. If an imported review creates the impression that someone used your product when they did not, that is the conduct the rule covers. Silence on importing is not permission. - Google's structured data guideline. Google's review snippet documentation, updated in July 2026, states it plainly: "Don't aggregate reviews or ratings from other websites." Importing supplier reviews and then marking them up for star ratings works directly against the guideline that makes those stars appear.
There is a related myth worth correcting. Google's self-serving review restriction says a business controlling reviews about itself is ineligible for star ratings. That restriction is written for `LocalBusiness` and `Organization` markup and does not name `Product`. So your own customers' reviews of your own products are not excluded by that particular rule. The aggregation guideline above still applies, and Google never guarantees that a rich result will display. - One more rule most merchants miss. Shopify's merchant guidelines for reviews on the Shop channel prohibit offering compensation in exchange for reviews, naming money, discounts, free products and refunds. Several apps here ship discount-for-review as a headline feature. Using it is your call, but it conflicts with Shopify's guidelines for reviews synced to Shop.
Collect your own reviews. It is slower, and it is the only version that is safe.
Choosing the Right Review App: A Quick Checklist
Five questions settle this faster than any feature grid.
- Can you export your reviews, and have people actually done it? Merchants report empty CSV exports from Yotpo, export lockouts on Loox, and Judge.me imports failing past 50 rows.
- Can the vendor hide reviews you already collected? Stamped changed its free plan in late 2025 and merchants say years of collected reviews stopped displaying until they paid. Ask what happens to your reviews if you downgrade.
- Is pricing based on orders, and does it have usage fees on top? Loox and Vitals both draw serious complaints here. Price the tier you will be on at three times your current volume.
- Does the widget slow your product page down? The Built for Shopify badge is a genuine signal. Merchants have blamed Stamped and Trustoo widgets for measurable conversion drops.
- Do you need Google Shopping star ratings? Google Merchant Center requires a minimum of 50 reviews across all of your products before Product Ratings activate, and the review data source has to be uploaded at least monthly.
If you want a simple answer, start with Judge.me. The free plan is the most generous in the category, migration paths into it exist from every major competitor, and you can move up or out later.
Free Ways to Start Without a Budget
Several free tiers here are genuinely usable, not trials in disguise.
- Judge.me Forever Free. Unlimited reviews and unlimited photo and video UGC. The strongest free offer in the category by some distance.
- AG Product Reviews. The whole app is free, and it carries the Built for Shopify badge.
- Junip Free. Unlimited review requests and rich snippets included, with no order cap.
- Loox Beginner. Free up to 500 orders, which covers a launch comfortably.
- Growave Free Forever. Reviews, loyalty and wishlist together up to 200 orders a month.
Start free and collect for 90 days. You will know by then if you need syndication, quizzes or loyalty, and you will be choosing with your own data instead of a feature list.
The Takeaway
The best product review app for Shopify is the one that will still have your reviews in three years.
Features are easy to compare and easy to match. What separates these apps is what happens when you grow, when you downgrade, and when you try to leave. That is where the one-star reviews cluster.
Collect real reviews from real customers. Skip the import shortcuts.
One thing worth adding alongside reviews: customer reviews are proof that arrives after the sale, so a new product launches with none. Creator content is the version you can have ready before launch day.
That is the gap Unboxx fills. Unboxx is not a review app and will not replace anything on this list. It runs the creator side: find creators, gift them product through a branded form, and collect what they post into a Content Portfolio you can use on product pages and in campaigns while your review count builds.
Pick your review app from the list above. Then give your new products something to show on day one.
Frequently asked questions
Judge.me is the default answer for most stores. Its free plan includes unlimited reviews and unlimited photo and video content, which no competitor matches, and it holds 5.0 stars across more than 44,000 reviews.
Not any more. The free Product Reviews app was delisted in September 2023 and sunset in May 2024.
Yes, and several are usable long term rather than trials. Judge.me's Forever Free plan includes unlimited reviews with unlimited photo and video content. AG Product Reviews is free in its entirety and carries the Built for Shopify badge. Junip's free plan includes unlimited review requests and rich snippets with no order cap.
Several apps offer it, including Ali Reviews, Opinew and Rivyo, but there are two reasons not to. Google's structured data documentation states directly, "Don't aggregate reviews or ratings from other websites," so imported reviews work against the star ratings you want in search.
Not necessarily, but plan for friction. Most major apps support CSV export and import, and Junip advertises one-click migration from Yotpo, Judge.me and Okendo.
They can, and merchants have measured it. One store blamed slow-loading Stamped widgets for "a significant drop in our store's conversion rate," and another flagged a Trustoo widget re-rendering on every page refresh.
Two things reduce the risk. Look for the Built for Shopify badge, which requires meeting Shopify's performance standards, and install one review app rather than layering several. Also check what the app leaves behind when uninstalled, because Okendo and Growave both draw complaints about orphaned metafields and scripts persisting after removal.
Fewer than most merchants assume. PowerReviews found conversion lifts 52.2 percent once a product page has one or more reviews, and Northwestern's Spiegel Research Center found five reviews raise purchase likelihood by 270 percent against none. Spiegel also found nearly all of the gain arrives within the first ten reviews, with the first five doing most of the work.
